Academic counseling position. Under supervision of College Division Counseling Manager, Senior Education Counselor or company Director, advise students in China on college placement in the US and Canada, including preparatory language study.
Hold electronic, phone or personal meetings with students weekly. Follow Ivy Labs' procedures.
In first year or first two years, evaluate students' educational background, aptitudes and English fluency. Plan programs of study in English, critical thinking or subject matter areas, connect students with Ivy Labs' colleagues with subject specialization, tutors, student mentors (Chinese students already studying in the U.S.) or American university faculty advisors in their target fields. In final year or two years, match students to appropriate schools, advise through the application process (including essay preparation, Common App, interviewing etc.).
Meet at least weekly with Counseling Manager, company Director, or Senior Education Counselor to review case load, get advice, etc.
The position requires at least a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology or TESOL (or a similar field). Fluency in Mandarin and familiarity with U.S. universities and their admission processes for foreign students are also required.
